Sykkylven Steel with record-high activity: – We are on the rise

Sykkylven Steel is facing autumn 2025 with the highest activity level ever recorded. The company reports a record order backlog and expects significant growth in the coming year.

– We are definitely on the rise, says CEO Morten Aure. In 2024, the company had operating revenues of 72 million kroner. They are now projected to increase by a full 25 percent in 2025. A key reason is that the company has grown significantly in recent years within the maritime industry – an area that has now become larger than the furniture segment.

More employees and increased expertise

The strong growth has also led to an increase in the workforce. Since the summer, Sykkylven Steel has hired five new employees, and there is still a need for more, especially in CNC operations, laser cutting, and robotics.

– We do not only work with steel and welding, as many might believe. The work here is varied, precise, and increasingly high-tech, says Aure.

A good example is the company's new CMM measuring machine, which can inspect machined parts with accuracy down to thousandths of a millimeter. – Simply impressive. I believe we are the only ones in the municipality that have such a machine, says Aure.

Production manager Vegard Aasen also highlights the good working environment and the opportunities that exist within the company. – It is a safe workplace with great potential. We also now have the capacity for two apprentices, and the collaboration with schools is excellent, says he.

Automation for the future

In recent years, Sykkylven Steel has invested heavily in modern production technology. The laser cutter – which is the heart of the production – runs up to 15 hours a day, six days a week. Additionally, the company has recently implemented an automated lathe that can operate unattended, even during the night.

– This prepares us for further growth and makes us both more efficient and more competitive, explains Aasen.

Sykkylven Steel also exports its self-developed Dyfosit® mechanisms, which are protected by patents, to markets such as Thailand, Poland, Germany, and the USA.

– It's exciting to see that Sykkylven Steel is on its way to becoming something bigger, says Aure.
